SELECTED WINE PRODUCER

Trimbach

Hand-picked by us to give you some of the best wine in the country

Maison Trimbach is unquestionably one of the greatest Alsace producers, highly regarded for their historic excellence and their visionary spirit. Even after 13 generations, the family (Pierre, Jean, Anne, Julien, Frédérique and Pauline currently) remain true to the philosophy handed down to them by their 19th century ancestor, Frédéric Emile. This means bone-dry wines that are strong on structure, longevity and fruit, with unparalleled elegance, balance and food-friendly versatility.

The estate offers a pure reflection of the sun-warmed, diverse terroirs surrounding Ribeauvillé, the medieval town the family has called home for over a century. With an average vine age of 45 years, their 58 hectares of vines stretch over more than 70 parcels and 9 villages, including Grand Crus Geisberg, Schlossberg, Mandelberg and Brand.

The geological fault which runs through Ribeauvillé offers a mosaic of exceptional terroirs, including complex shell limestone soils called “Muschelkalk” – a terroir particularly favoured by Riesling. The soils also include marls, sandstone, gneiss and granite. Trimbach celebrates this wide variety of terroirs by creating complex, distinctive wines, each with their own character.

Sustainable viticulture is integral to the family’s winemaking philosophy and all vines are in conversion to be organic-certified by 2023.

It is a testament to the quality of Trimbach’s wines that they are listed at every three Michelin-starred restaurant in France. The jewels in their crown are their Grand Crus, Clos St Hune and Frédéric Emile, which is sourced from both Grand Crus Geisberg and Osterberg. Iconic Clos St Hune is a 1.67ha parcel within Grand Cru Rosacker in Hunawhir, which the Trimbach family have owned for more than 200 years.
